If there is one number that everyone seems to be watching it is the measurements taken of the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere.
Since the 1960s it has been rising fast as we have all consumed more and more. The last 10 years have seen this rise to a phenomenal rate as ever more forest gets turned into agricultural land to feed our billions and we burn fossil fuels like there's no tomorrow.
The world is extremely close to a new threshold which it hasn't experienced for millions of years. That threshold is 400 parts per million of CO2 in the air.
